Candace Simar

Author Candace Simar will present “I have a manuscript. Now what?” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Franklin Art Center in Brainerd as part of the Taste of the Arts Tuesday Sampler series. The workshop will be offered again  the evening of  Tuesday, September 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Simar will discuss how to know a manuscript is ready,  finding an agent or publisher, and how to navigate the submission process. Class Fee is $10 or $5 for Crossing Arts Alliance members.  Call 833-0416 to register or visit www.crossingarts.org.

Simar is author of the “Abercrombie Trail” series of historical novels from North Star Press of St. Cloud, which recount the story of Scandinavian immigrants in early Minnesota during the 1862 Sioux Uprising.  The series includes Abercrombie Trail (2009), Pomme de Terre (2010) and Birdie (2011). Birdie won the Spur Award for Best Western Juvenile Fiction in 2012.

The Tuesday Sampler: Taste of the Arts Series, presented by The Crossing Arts Alliance, is a literary and visual arts series of classes on Farmer Market Tuesdays at the Franklin Art Center.  Enjoy the Farmers Market at Franklin Arts Center parking lot, 1001 Kingwood St, Brainerd, then come inside, and improve your artistic skills with a fine selection of classes in August and September.

This activity is funded, in part, by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund; and grants from Sertoma Winter Wonderland, Brainerd Service League, Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union, and the Anderson Family Legacy Fund.
