Poetry on the Wall 2015 Call for Submissions

The Crossing Arts Alliance (TCAA) invites those interested to submit up to three poems for Poetry on the Wall 2015.  Poets, consider this opportunity to exhibit your work and read during the reception.

Submission deadline 12:00 p.m. on January 9, 2015.  Poets of any age must have resided for at least four months of the past year in the following counties of Minnesota: Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena. Poetry must be submitted using black text on white background only (no graphics), submitted as a Word file, using Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri 12 pt. font via email to info@crossingarts.org. Poems in other formats or past the deadline will not be accepted. The submission fee of $15 per poet or $10 for Crossing Arts Alliance members.

No poetry shall violate any copyright and must be appropriate for a general audience. Poetry may be published or unpublished work. Poets will be notified by January 26 via email, as to whether or not the poems were accepted by the jury. Contact TCAA at 218-833-0416 or info@crossingarts.org if you have any questions.

A juried exhibition opens February 21 and runs through March 13 at the Q Gallery located at the Franklin Art Center, 1001 Kingwood Street, Brainerd.   Selected poets are invited to read their poetry at the poets’ reception and reading at the Franklin Auditorium on February 21, from 1-3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Poets are encouraged to invite guests. A People’s Choice along with a first, second and third place winner will be chosen at that time each offering a cash prize.  A booklet featuring selected submitted poetry will be available for purchase. The event features award winning author Sheila O’Connor as host. O’Connor is an award-winning author and graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and professor in the Master of Fine Arts program at Hamline University. Her poetry and fiction have been recognized with fellowships from the Bush Foundation, Loft McKnight and the Minnesota State Arts Board. The project is managed by Krista Soukup of Blue Cottage Agency.

This activity is funded, in part, by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund; and grants from Sertoma Winter Wonderland, Brainerd Service League, Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union, and the Anderson Family Legacy Fund.
